Ronald and Shelly Miller
Serving in Africa Regional Office | Africa
Ronald and Shelly (Rachelle) Miller are Global Nazarene Missionaries serving on the Africa Region. Along with their four children Abigail (born 2006), Malachi (born 2007), Elijah (born 2012) and Eden (born 2014), they reside in Johannesburg, South Africa, which is also Ronald’s home country.
After graduating from Olivet Nazarene University, Shelly began her missionary career in October of 2000 as a NIVS (now called Mission Corps) to the Africa Region, helping with curriculum development. Ronald worked in the Regional NYI Offices while he finished his Bth at Nazarene Theological College in Johannesburg.
After they married, they pastored for 6 years while they waited to be assigned as a married couple. In April of 2010, they were asked to go to Swaziland to help with the establishment of Southern Africa Nazarene University for 1 year. In 2011, they moved to Madagascar and worked as the country coordinators for 5 years, which involved evangelism, training, working with the Madagascar Street Kids Center, Compassionate Ministries Coordinators, teaching English as a second language, church planting, etc. During this time, Ronald began working, again, as the Regional NYI Coordinator.
In 2015, the family moved back to Johannesburg so that Ronald could continue with the coordination of the regional youth ministries and also start Urban Ministries, as identified as a need on the region and around the world. Currently, Ronald is still spear-heading these two departments while Shelly works as the editor for the Out of Africa newsletter, oversees the guest flats that are on the church’s property in Johannesburg, and is a full-time mom to their four kids.
Going Where the Church is Not Yet
Today there are over 4.3 billion people who live in areas where there is little to no gospel witness. 4.3 billion people who have not heard the message of the gospel, who have never heard the name of Jesus. We believe that everyone deserves to hear. God continues to call the Church of the Nazarene to spread the message of the gospel, to preach holiness, and to bring good news to the poor all over the world. The task is enormous; far too big for anyone to do alone, but together we can go where the church is not yet and see people, communities, and nations transformed. Reaching these people begins with one step, a step of obedience and faithfulness that says yes to God’s call. Take your first step and start your journey toward serving in missions today.
